A Lifetime of Caring for Others
Amy’s journey has been shaped by her role as both a mother and a nurse. With nearly 17 years in the medical field, she works full-time at a local hospital while also teaching Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) courses at night. Her passion for educating others stems from her own experiences—she became a nurse to better care for her child with special needs.
“I lift my daughter every day. She’s 66 pounds, and I have to be strong enough to care for her,” Amy shares. “But my excess weight was putting a strain on my body, and I was constantly in pain. I was moving slower, my legs ached, and after every shift, my ankles were swollen due to peripheral artery disease (PAD). It was getting harder and harder to keep up. I knew I needed to make a change that would turn my health around so I could continue caring for my daughter.”
Choosing to Invest in Her Health
Years of trying different diets and strategies—Weight Watchers, phentermine, keto—yielded temporary results but never provided long-term success. While she was a candidate for gastric bypass, the lengthy recovery time wasn’t an option due to life’s responsibilities.
One day, she heard a radio commercial for True You Weight Loss while driving. Curious but concerned about the cost, she reached out. “The financial team was incredibly supportive and made the process so easy — within our 30-minute conversation they helped secure a two-year loan with no interest,” she says.
“The investment in my health and future was worth every penny.”
Personalized Care from the Start: Amy’s ESG-MAX® Decision
Amy had decided on the ESG-MAX® — a procedure that combines endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) and gastric fundus mucosal ablation (GFMA).
Unlike traditional medical experiences where the doctor is the last person you meet, Amy had direct access to Dr. Christopher McGowan from the start.
“He explained everything to me. Doing it on Zoom was also very helpful since I had so many priorities to balance,” she recalls.
After careful consideration, she scheduled her ESG-MAX® procedure for October 20, 2023.
