Meet Emily Weaver, BSN, RN, AGPCNP

Emily Weaver is a nurse practitioner (NP) who is certified in obesity management through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Emily brings more than a decade of healthcare experience spanning a variety of clinical areas including neurosurgery, intensive care, primary care, and obesity management.

She holds bachelor’s degrees in nursing and exercise/sport science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as a master’s degree in nursing, with a specialization in adult-gerontology primary care, from George Washington University. Skilled in engaging with patients to develop care plans that meet their health goals, Emily has also trained extensively in nutrition and health coaching. She is a member of the Obesity Medicine Association, the North Carolina Nurses Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society.

At True You Weight Loss, Emily is committed to supporting and partnering with patients on their unique weight loss journeys. Her top priorities are building strong relationships and providing the best evidence-based care possible. She is passionate about health and wellness, encouraging her patients, and providing health education and medical advice to help patients reach their goals.

Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Emily currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, with her son and dog. She enjoys being active, working out at home, hiking, traveling, and trying out new restaurants around town. More often than not, Emily can be found in her kitchen cooking, baking, or preparing healthier versions of her favorite treats.

Fun facts about Emily:

  • She loves singing karaoke, and Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” is her favorite song to perform.
  • Emily also loves the beach and is known to travel there at any chance she gets, even for a day trip.
  • Her background in exercise science led her to spend time working as a group and personal fitness instructor while at UNC-CH.
  • If she had not chosen a career in medicine, Emily would have become a hairdresser because she loves working with people and helping them look and feel their best.
